Nepal is famous for its Great Himalaya, although the destinations offered are meant for the most adventurous travelers in the world. Do you have what it takes to explore Nepal and go deep into the Himalayan regions where nobody else has gotten the chance to see? The country’s allure is incredible; it boasts authentic villages, beautiful fauna & flora, a unique culture and surreal wildlife.

The Himalayan mountain chain is home to Earth’s highest and most imposing peaks – the Everest. However, there’s a lot more to this puzzling region than meets the eye. Starting from Pakistan and stretching all the way across Bhutan, India, and Nepal, Himalaya reaches the Chinese territory at some point. The majestic landscape is packed with gorgeous glaciers, mountains and steep valleys, and the whole scenery is dominated by Mount Everest.

Nepal and its connection to the Himalaya

Nepal is the country most closely tied to the Himalayas, and it is also home to the chain’s 8 out of 10 peaks. Sixty years ago, avid explorers Edmund Hillary and Sherpa Tenzing managed to climb up to the top; that was the moment when other international travelers decided that they wanted to try their luck, too. There have thousands of attempts over the decades, but only the bravest and the strongest were lucky enough to reach the world’s highest peak. Nepal’s excellent values, easy access to the top of the mountains, and wide range of accommodations have turned it into an extraordinary travel spot. Camps are everywhere, as well as tour guides and operators that promise to offer a trip of a lifetime.

When should you plan a trekking adventure?

Not many would dare to trek the Himalayas in the winter; throughout summer, make sure to avoid the monsoon period, which is heavier in the eastern side of Himalaya. Some of the most popular destinations are Nepal and India, and the best period is from April all the way through October. During this time, the weather conditions are pleasant and the sky is clearer. If you want to expand your trek even more, head over to Ladakh and Zanskar. These Buddhist regions are positioned up north and they should be enjoyed throughout July and August.

Some of the best and most visually enticing trekking areas in the Himalayas are the Annapurna region, Everest and the Markha Valley in Ladakh. There are all sorts of camps and lodging places around these regions, so you’re not obliged to have a tent in your backpack.

Exploring Mount Everest

Considering that Nepal’s war ended back in 2006, the amount of travelers venturing to this place has doubled. In peak season for example, the country is overflows with tourists; Namche Bazaar, which is a main gateway to Mount Everest’s base camp now offers excellent mobile coverage, too. There are many private tours available if you’re afraid to go on your own. With an average number of 20 treks/year World Expeditions is Nepal’s main travel operator. On average, an 18-day trekking adventure will cost you about $2,000 with accommodation included.

The sights

Many avid travelers adore trekking because such an adventure offers superb scenery and unforgettable sights. The Himalayan region is incredibly vast; whether you’d like to see Kashmir and its superb panorama of Dal Lake, or explore Hindu Kush and the Pakistan-Afghan border, there’s no doubt that the Himalayan region has a bit of something for everyone. If you’re the adventurous type of traveler who’s not afraid of a challenge, begin a trek and explore the wildest regions of Himalaya. This sort of travel experience is only meant for the experienced, especially if you’re also thinking of climbing the Everest.

Most treks last for 10-20 days. They include spectacular panoramas, super sights, and not that many villages. In the Karakoram mountain range (Pakistan) for example, the treks are remote experiences, so don’t expect to see any villages as you climb up the mountains. What’s great about the Himalayan range is that it’s unexpected and vast. On your trek, you’ll stumble upon surreal fauna and flora, not to mention that you’ll meet all kinds of people and you’ll taste all sorts of interesting dishes. Enjoy your Himalayan adventure and live to the fullest every second spent on this magnificent territory.

Yeah, Everest base camp trekking is the most admired walking activity among the passionate trekkers because it is exciting walk in the thin air through colorful rhododendron forests, roaring rivers, gigantic glaciers, enormous ice falls; and prayer flags swathed suspension bridges.
