Wat Pho is one of the most popular and most important temples in Bangkok, Thailand. It is a royal temple and home to the origin of traditional Thai massage. The most iconic feature of Wat Pho, however, is it’s spectacular Reclining Buddha.

The Reclining Buddha in Wat Pho is located near the entrance within it’s own beautifully decorated hall, and it is so large that it only just fits in there. The hall must have been built around it as there is no way that it could fit in any other way. Covered in gold leaf, the Buddha is 45 metres long and 15 metres tall, with mother-of-pearl in laid on it’s feet in a beautiful pattern.

As you enter the hall, the Buddha’s head towers above you, resting on it’s hand in a very relaxed position. The sight of this spectacular image is sure to stay with you after your visit to Bangkok. It is no wonder that the temple is often referred to as The Temple of the Reclining Buddha

I agree! Wat Pho, like the Grand Palace, is a must-see in Bangkok.
